Commonwealth
The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of 54 countries, most formerly part of the British Empire. It covers about one-third of the world's population (approximately 2.5 billion people) as of 2024.
Common characteristics among members include English as official language, common law legal systems, parliamentary government, left-hand traffic, and cricket popularity. However, not all apply universally - Mozambique (Portuguese-speaking) and Rwanda (French-speaking) are members despite not being former British territories.
In GeoHint, a 'Commonwealth member' hint limits to 54 countries. 'Commonwealth + Asia' narrows to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei (7 countries).
