Ring of Fire

The Ring of Fire is a horseshoe-shaped zone of intense volcanic and seismic activity along Pacific plate boundaries. Spanning about 40,000km, it contains approximately 75% of the world's active volcanoes and generates about 90% of major earthquakes.

Countries on the Ring of Fire include Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, USA (west coast and Alaska), Canada (west coast), and Russia (Kamchatka Peninsula).

Hints about 'many volcanoes' or 'frequent earthquakes' suggest Ring of Fire countries. However, Iceland (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) and Italy (African-Eurasian plate boundary) are also volcanic, so the Ring of Fire isn't the only possibility.
